FIRST COMMUNION

Many thanks to the Parents of the children from Ss Peter & Paul’s Communion class who made a donation towards the cost of the flowers for the church for the Communion last weekend.

EASTER DUES

Again we offer our thanks to those who have been generous enough to send in their Easter Dues, and its still not too late for those who still wish to contribute.

 

FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION

The First Friday Adoration will start on the First Friday of May i.e. the 7th May, after 10am Mass until 12pm.

The next Lectio Divina meeting will continue on Monday night at 7pm in the Parish House.

 

THE PARISH FAITH GROUP

The Prayer group will hold their monthly meeting on

Tuesday May 4th at 8pm in the Loreto Convent.

The Partnership is in need of volunteers with a good level of DIY skills to help older people in the Balbriggan, Skerries, Lusk and Rush areas. BALSCADDEN DISTRICT & COMMUNITY

Thanks to the forty three people and three dogs who took part in the recent sponsored walk, which raised over €450 for the Community Hall Renovation fund. Thanks also to all who helped the National Spring Clean last weekend.

 

BALBRIGGAN MEALS LTD

Many thanks Finbar Collins and all the swimmers from the Central Bar for the generous donation of €2,234 from their sponsored swim on Christmas Day.

 

STAMULLEN ART GROUP PAINTING AND MIXED MEDIA EXHIBITION

The exhibition will be in Ardgillan Castle Sun May 2nd to Sun May 23rd incl. from 10am to 5pm-exception Mondays.

THE AFRICAN CHAPLAINCY JOINS WITH THE

DIOCESE PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

This Pilgrimage to Knock is on Saturday 16th May 2010. It will be spiritually fulfilling. Cost is €40 per person which

EDDIE STONE—EMMANUEL HOUSE CLONFERT

The next monthly session is on Wed May 5th in Glebe North Hall. Music by Triskell Céili Band. Dancing 9-12am

 

O’DWYERS GAA

Fri April 30th a céili will be held in the GAA club from 9pm until 12.30am, Music by Triskell Céili Band. Sun 1st May, dancing and music by Liam Carter from 9.30pm.

On May 9th O’Dwyers are holding their Lá Na gClub—A National day for celebrating GAA in the community. Lots of events and activities on the day and in the evening.

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE

Map travel will still accept booking forms and deposits for the trip to the Holy Land if anyone still wishes to join.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY COLLECTION

In order to support students preparing for the Priesthood the Share collection will be replaced by this collection at all Masses this weekend. Please be generous.

 

HOUR OF PRAYER WEDNESDAY MAY 5TH

There will be an Hour of Prayer with Exposition of

the Blessed Sacrament in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church

on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 8pm. Our

next Hour of Prayer will be on Wednesday May 5th

from 8-9pm. It will be a time of quiet prayer with

music & short reflections. Everyone is welcome

Congratulations to the parishioners who have trained to provide us with a Bethany Group in our Parish.  Their graduation ceremony is on Saturday 8th of May in Clonliffe College.

As you know reclaiming the annual tax refund is of huge

benefit to the Parish and your co-operation is very much

appreciated. Thanks to those of you who have already returned the completed form. If you are subject to PAYE and have

contributed over €250 in 2009 and have not received a form in order for the Parish to reclaim the tax applicable please contact the Parish office. Apologies to those of you who may have received a form and are either Self Employed or are not

subject to tax as the occasional error will occur due to the numbers thankfully supporting the Parish. Thank you all again.

HERITAGE UPGRADE FOR BALBRIGGAN TOWN CENTRE

A partnership comprising Fingal Co. Co., Balbriggan Town Council, the Heritage Council and Balbriggan Chamber, has announced a plan for the renewal of the heritage-rich, but in some respects 'condition-tired', Town-Centre of Balbriggan. Incoming Chamber President Joe English states ''With the substantial Heritage grant obtained, the proposal is to write an agreed 'Public Realm' (Heritage) Plan for Balbriggan Town-Centre by Spring 2011. This will be done after major consultation with Town-Centre Stakeholders (business and private) and with the Balbriggan Community generally. The unique Heritage Resources of Balbriggan Town Centre have the potential to make Balbriggan a better place in which to live, to socialise, to do business''.

Joint Mass is on Pentecost Sunday 23rd May in St Brigids Church, Blanchardstown at 1pm.

 

 

BALSCADDEN CHURCH ANNUAL TRACTOR RUN SUN MAY 30TH AT 11AM.

Please support by entering a Tractor at €20 per Tractor. Entertainment in the Field. The Gary Martin Perperual Trophy will be

presented on the day. Do come and support the cause & have fun!

 

50TH EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

The second National Appeal for the Congress will be held on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord (5th/6th June.). This will replace the Share collection in all Churches and public oratories in the diocese. These are difficult times for many people, you are asked to simply give what you can afford. Also The Diocesan Eucharistic Procession, led by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, will take place in the grounds of Holy Cross College, Clonliffe on Thurs. June 3rd at 7.30pm

2010 promises to be bigger than 2009. Open Auditions for Singers/Dancers/Actors/Magicians/Comedians/Acrobats etc. at the Bracken Court Hotel on May 29th between 9am and 6pm, excluding 1pm - 2pm. The final will take place on June 26th. Come along and impress our judges with your talent

 

SANDFILIPPO FOUNDATION FUND RAISING

An Event to raise funds for children suffering from Sandfilippo will be held in the Bracken Court Hotel on Sunday May 16th at 5.30pm. Your support would be greatly appreciated

50TH EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

The second National Appeal for the Congress will be held on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord (5th/6th June.). This will replace the Share collection in all Churches and public oratories in the diocese. These are difficult times for many people, you are asked to simply give what you can afford. Also The Diocesan Eucharistic Procession, led by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, will take place in the grounds of Holy Cross College, Clonliffe on Thurs. June 3rd at 7.30pm
