DO THIS IN MEMORY THANKSGIVING MASS A Mass in thanksgiving for all those involved in the Do This In Memory Programme will be held this Saturday at 6.30pm and Sunday at 10.45am in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Church and at 9.00am in Balscadden Church. This programme is the preparation course between Schools, Parents and Parish for First Holy Communion. The Mass this weekend provides us with an opportunity to give thanks to all those who took part in the programme and to give praise to God. LECTIO DIVINA There will not be a Lectivo Divina meeting on Monday June 7th as it is a Bank Holiday. ALTAR SERVERS We wish to thank the Altar Servers who we currently have on our regular Rota and we invite any boys and girls who have received their First Holy Communion and wish to join the Altar Servers Team to give your name in to the Parish Office. BALBRIGGAN ECUMENICAL GROUP MEETING The next meeting will be on Monday June 14th at 8pm in the Parish House and the discussion topic will be “Acts of the Apostles”. New members are always welcome. TROCAIRE LENTEN CAMPAIGN On behalf of thousands of communities all over the world Trocaire wish to thank the people of Balbriggan Parish for their most generous donation of €1,602. Your donation will provide a brighter future to many families freeing them from hunger & poverty and helping them maintain their dignity. 50TH EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS The second National Appeal for the Congress will be held on (5th/6th June.). This will replace the Share collection in all Churches and public oratories in the diocese. These are difficult times for many people, you are asked to simply give what you can afford. BALBRIGGAN F. 50TH EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS The National Appeal in aid of the Eucharistic Congress last weekend, in our Church, amounted to €1,662. Thank you for your generosity.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION We have quite a few Church gate collections at our weekend Masses during the year. Permission for such collections comes from the Gardaí and we ask to see the permit in the Parish Office. Such permits allow for the collection outside the Church gates. The permit does not give permission for Posters etc. to be attached to our Church railings. Out of consideration for those attending our church for Mass, the cooperation of those organising Church gate collections would be appreciated.
BALBRIGGAN MEALS LTD. We wish to acknowledge and thank the swimmers and all involved in O’Dwyers GAA club for the recent donation of €3,000 towards Balbriggan Meals on Wheels. The donation is very much appreciated.
BALSCADDEN ANNUAL TRACTOR RUN Balscadden Church Group would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of their Annual Tractor Run on Sunday 30th May. It was a great success. The total raised so far is €14076. This amount will be devided between The Balscadden Church Fund and Balscadden Community Council.
CROSSCARE 3RD ANNUAL CARERS WEEK As part of the Carers week, an outing will be held for Male Carers on June 16th. If you are interested tel. 01-8360011. NOVENA PRAYER WALK. For the 4th year running, a group of friends are planning to walk from Dublin to Drogheda over nine days in a ‘Novena – Prayer- Walk’ which ends at St. Peter’s Church Drogheda for the official Mass in honour of St. Oliver Plunkett each year. This year our prayer walk takes place, between Saturday June 26th and Sunday July 4th. We pray through the intercession of our Our Lady and all our saints, but especially St. Plunkett and the beatified martyrs, to Our Lord as Divine Mercy. Please look out for a poster on the Church notice board shortly.
BALBRIGGAN YOUTH SERVICE The Balbriggan Youth Service (Foróige) summer programme will run from the 14th of June to the 20th Aug. The activities will be swimming, graffiti art and crafts, jewellery making, nail art, canoeing, kayaking, slippery slope, camping, beach games, BBQ’s and much more. This year will see the introduction of a Gaeltacht week in Balbriggan (Gaeltacht sa Bhrigin funded by Foras na Gaeilge). This will help 13-16 with an interest in improving their conversation al Irish. There will be an opportunity of a film making project in August. Volunteers are vital for the success of both Foróige and the Balbriggan youth service so if you are interested contact Derval on 086-7710790.

RETURN OF REVENUE FORMS FOR TAX RECLAIM Many thanks to all of you who have already returned the forms Anyone who has forgotten to return the Tax forms please do so as soon as possible. If you have mislaid it, please contact the Parish office where we can arrange for a duplicate to issue. BLESSING OF THE GRAVES IN BALROTHERY A reminder that the blessing of the graves will take place in Balrothery Graveyard on Sunday next June 27th at 4pm.

FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP A Family support Group is a safe non-judgemental place for family members to discuss issues emerging from the problem of drug use. COURSES AT ALL HALLOWS Pathways is a course for adults who wish to explore their faith. There are no exams no written work. The only qualification is an openness to listen to others. For more information tel. 018373745 or email pathways @allhallows.ie. Also available is a course in Youth Retreat Facilitation. This will involve workshops on Youth Retreats and encourage the deepening of your own faith and commitment to ministry in the Church. The training is over 8 Saturdays and 3 retreat days. BALBRIGGAN & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY This years annual outing is on Saturday July 3rd. The Coach trip is to Maynooth Co. Kildare where there is a guided tour of the town including the Seminary. O’DWYERS GAA Summer Camps will take place in July/August. Camp 1—VHI Cúl Camps(5-12yrs old) 10am-2.30pm on July 19th—23rd. Camp 2—Advance Football Camp (8-14yrs old) 10am –2.30pm on July 26th– 30th. PETER’S PENCE 3RD & 4TH JULY In his recent Letter to Catholics of Ireland, Pope Benedict XVI wrote “In solidarity with all of you, I am praying earnestly that, by God’s grace the wounds afflicting so many individuals and families may be healed..” (par 13). The purpose of the annual collection called “Peter’s Pence” is to enable our Holy Father, Pope Benedict to express his solidarity with those who endure the grievous wounds of poverty, deprivation and injustice, in the name of the Church. This special annual collection is an opportunity to express your solidarity with him in his ministry of charity and in his witness to hope. Through your solidarity Pope Benedict can give to the poor what he has conveyed to us his closeness to them, the strength to endure and the inspiration to respond to the challenges they face. In these times which are particularly difficult for you financially and as members of the Church, I ask you to enable Pope Benedict XVI, to the best of your ability to fulfil the mission of Peter to strengthen the faith of our needy brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ to the best of his ability. FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP A Family support Group is a safe non-judgemental place for family members to discuss issues emerging from the problem of drug use. BALBRIGGAN YOUTH SERVICE The Balbriggan Youth Service (Foróige) summer programme will run until the 20th Aug. The activities will be swimming, graffiti art and crafts, jewellery making, nail art, canoeing, kayaking, slippery slope, camping, beach games, BBQ’s and much more. This year will see the introduction of a Gaeltacht week in Balbriggan (Gaeltacht sa Bhrigin funded by Foras na Gaeilge). This will help 13-16 with an interest in improving their conversational Irish. There will be an opportunity of a film making project in August. Volunteers are vital for the success of both Foróige and the Balbriggan youth service so if you are interested contact Derval on 086-7710790.
