ADVENT REFLECTION AFTER WEEKDAY MASS

There will be a reflection and music broadcast on the Parish Radio daily (Mon-Fri) after 10am provided by the Loreto students during advent.

 

BETHANY GROUP MEETING FOR THE PUBLIC

The next meeting for the public will be held on Tuesday Dec. 14th from 8-9pm.

 

LECTIO DIVINA

The meeting of Lectio Divina will continue on Monday

evenings at 7pm, New members welcome.

 

HOLY HOUR IN THE VISITATION CONVENT

There will be a holy hour of prayer from 3-4pm each Sunday throughout Advent in the visitation convent, Stamullen.

 

CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT RINGCOMMONS

Ringcommons sports centre will host an evening of Christmas Carols on Thurs. December 9th at 8.30pm. Please join us for some Christmas time cheer. Refreshments will be served.

THE POPE JOHN PAUL 11 AWARDS

Catholic Youth Care, in association with the Dublin Archdiocesan office of Evangelisation is delighted to announce a new pastoral programme for young people in the diocese as part of the Year of Evangelisation. CYC will be supporting parishes, schools and young people in this new Award. This is an exciting new project that has the ability to show young people how to actively live out their faith. We warmly welcome young people between the ages of 16 and 18 years in schools and parishes throughout the Diocese.

During Advent the group will meet each Monday at 8pm in Ss. Peter & Paul’s Parish house starting on Nov. 29th. The Heart of Christianity, by Marcus Borg will be studied, its easy to read. Copies available on loan or to share. All are welcome.

The usual Share collection next weekend will be replaced by the Annual Appeal for the Diocesan Agency, Catholic Youth Care. CYC is the agency for the Support of youth in our Diocese. Please be generous to this appeal.

Mass booking should be made at the Parish office at least 1 week in advance to ensure it will be included in the weeks Mass list.

 

THE CHURCH SHOP

The shop will continue to open on Saturday & Sundays for 30 minutes before Masses. Please let the volunteers know if there are some religious items you would like to be sold in the shop.

BALBRIGGAN ECUMENICAL GROUP

Meeting on Monday 8th November at 8pm in the Parish House. Discussions continue with Corinthians chapters 11-16. During Advent the group will meet every Monday, studying The Heart of Christianity by Marcus Borg. All welcome.

YOUTH 2000 RETREAT

Youth 2000 Ireland will host a youth retreat for people aged 16-35 at Our Lady’s College, Greenhills, Drogheda from Fri 19th to Sunday 21st Nov. The weekend will consist of an action packed programme consisting of Prayer, workshops, drama inspirational talks, testimonies, fun and games. Retreat starts with registration on Friday at 8pm and it is a donation only event. Please drop in at any time over the weekend or bring a sleeping bag if you choose to avail of accommodation. The meeting of Lectio Divina will resume on Monday

November 8th at 7pm.

 

BALSCADDEN CHRISTMAS FAIR

The 2nd Traditional Christmas Fair at Balscadden District Community Hall starting 12pm until 4pm Saturday 13th November 2010.  Features include home made needle work and crafting gifts, home baking, books, toys, bottle stall, raffle, guess the weight of the cake, guess the Teddy Bears Birthday and kids lucky dip.  Everything is made or donated by the community and all funds raised go towards clearing the community hall debt following its renovation last year.  FREE ADMISSION.  Refreshments available and face painting and much much more…….Donations of items to sell, baking and raffle prizes can be dropped into Marian Cannon, Margaret Cluskey or Louise Landers – everything gratefully received.

 

THE PARISH FAITH GROUP MEETING NOV. 8TH

This meeting will be at 8pm in the Loreto Convent. New members welcome.

 

BALBRIGGAN SENIOR CITIZENS

Mass will be held in the senior citizens hall on Sunday 7th Nov. at 3pm. The seniors citizens AGM is on Thurs 11th Nov. at 8.30pm.

Local soprano Aoife O’Sullivan will be joined by special guests Niamh Mitchell and Michael Miley for a wonderful evening of music on Saturday December 4th. PARISH DEACON

Alf Connell who has served in various roles in our Parish will be introduced as our Parish Deacon at 6.30pm Mass on Saturday Nov. 27th. From the earliest days of the Church there have been deacons. Their role as described in the Acts of the Apostles is to  assist with the care of God’s people in particular those in need. We are fortunate to have a permanent deacon in our Parish who has volunteered his services as part of the Parish Team, with the permission of Archbishop Martin.

 

GORTA CLOTHES APPEAL

There will be a Gorta Clothes/Merchandise appeal on Sunday 28th Nov. Bags will be available at the back of the Church this weekend, please take one and return it to The Garage between the Church and the Parish House on Sunday 28th Nov. only.  Gorta also thank all who supported their Church gate collection which amounted to €816

 

ST MOLAGA’S SCHOOL CHOIR –LATE LATE SHOW

We wish St. Molaga’s School Choir our very best wishes having been selected to appear on the Late Late Toy Show on Nov 26th. Congratulations to all involved.

The usual Share collection this weekend will be replaced by the Annual Appeal for the Diocesan Agency, Catholic Youth Care. CYC is the agency for the Support of youth in our Diocese. Please be generous to this appeal.

Mass booking should be made at the Parish office at least 1 week in advance to ensure it will be included in the weeks Mass list.

 

THE CHURCH SHOP

The shop will continue to open on Saturday evenings & Sundays for 30 minutes before and after Masses.

 

LECTIO DIVINA

The meeting of Lectio Divina will continue on Monday

evenings at 7pm, New members welcome.

CARERS UPCOMING EVENTS

The annual remembrance Mass will be held on Thursday November 25th at 7pm in the Red House, Clonliffe. If you wish to add someone to the remembrance list tel. 8360011. The carers support group will meet in Balbriggan Library on Mon 29th Nov. from 7-8.30pm. Our Christmas coffee morning is on Dec 7th in The Red House, Clonliffe, with carol singing and play by our writers group. Our Carers Christmas Party on Dec 9th venue not yet confirmed. 

 

THE FEAST OF LIFE

FRIENDS OF ADHD/AUTISM CHARITY SHOP

located on Clonard Street Balbriggan and Thomas Hand Street Skerries. All proceeds from the shop go towards the cost of funding an Advocacy worker who will support all people in the community with a disability. Without the support of the Advocacy Worker many people and their families within the community can feel isolated, The Advocacy worker offers not only support and advice but also a friendly voice on the other end of the phone.
