As we have no Sunday Mass congregation we would greatly appreciate your support where possible for our weekly Planned Giving to help with the basic maintenance of the Church and Parish.  We know that many people have been affected financially by the Covid- 19 crisis so any support is greatly appreciated. You can do so by clicking on the `Donate` button on our website www.balbrigganparish.com   Thank you.  Fr. John

DANGER OF FALSE PROPHETS

We are living in a time of crisis and that helps us to reflect, to pray and to be helpful to others. Many people come to the Church every day to make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament.

A time like this is also dangerous because some people believe God is punishing us. Some are upset by so called visionaries making Live prophecies that there will be three dark days and a time of chastisement . In the time of the Old Testament people had the concept of an angry God but Jesus gave us a clear idea of this Father in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, a God of mercy and compassion.

When he went to Nazareth he read from text from Isaiah saying the Spirit had anointed him to bring Good News to the poor, the sick, the outcasts, he deliberately omitted the last line of the text in Isaiah-” to proclaim a day of vengeance from our God”.

If you go to an App` or website which talks about punishment, chastisement or three dark days, this is not from the Holy Spirit. Switch to another channel.

Promises have meaning and can be taken seriously when they come from God. In uncertain times, there is great comfort in the assurance of faith. In knowing the Way, the Truth, and the Life, which provides the means to how a heart can stay untroubled.
